NURSING

MIDWIFERY

  • Episiotomies being performed as a first resort
  • Distinct lack of privacy for laboring women
  • Surprising cultural attitudes towards childbirth
  • No available pain relief throughout the birthing process

PHYSIOTHERAPY

  • Handmade and improvised rehabilitation equipment
  • Uncommon conditions like leprosy
  • Heavy reliance on manual therapies
  • Extremely late presentation and advanced cases

RADIOGRAPHY

  • Developing CT, MRI and X-ray on film in a darkroom
  • Inadequate MRI equipments in Ghana
  • Limited privacy with multiple patients undergoing scans in the same room

  • Faulty or broken-down diagnostic equipment

DENTAL

  • Lack of resources and use of outdated equipment
